Welcome to The Panic Room, where absolutely everything has the potential to become a problem.
The residents are experts at overthinking, avoiding uncomfortable situations, and imagining every possible thing that could go wrong.
Some spend their time worrying about the future, others are still recovering from the past. Most know they’re making things harder than necessary, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to stop.
Here, even the simplest decisions can become major productions. Leaving the house, meeting new people, or answering the question, “What if?”
It’s exhausting being afraid of things that haven’t even happened.
But don’t worry, you’re perfectly safe in here.
Meet a resident:
The Why
I know why I fall for the unattainable
It’s because I’m undateable
If he’s married I’ll never have to meet his family
If he lives far enough away, I’m safe
Safe from the anxiety of going anywhere when I have nothing to wear
Won’t have to attend events with his friends
I don’t have to feel I’m not good enough for him
If there is no way for anyone to draw comparison
I won’t have to attend their work events afraid of being an embarrassment
Fake relations are the safest
If there is contact, I can control the setting
Only go places familiar
Know the parking situation is reasonable
That bathrooms are easily accessible
That my t-shirt and jeans are acceptable
My anxiety over vulnerability allows me
to be content and happy with nothing
Alone in my bubble of safety is everything
but also depressing
