Beneath low lying hues of pink rage
A sunset's anger can't be contained
We engage with skies wicked eyes
Stormy grey, a tormenting parfait
Colors layered one on top of the other
Ending in blue, same as it had debuted
Day pressed to hold night from falling
We're watching from the lot's
perfect parking spot
Still views of where water begins
Out to sea, only to return again
Recline seats to gaze through a glass ceiling
Today's coming to a wild conclusion
It's turbulent this evening's beginning
Lightning cracks only to catch me off guard
Grab for his hand and squeeze hard
Briefly stopped my heart
Then the roar of thunder's heard
So aggressive it shakes the earth
No rain yet, but we wait with bated breath
wanting the soak, to feel the wet
and he says,
"I'm sorry, I wanted tonight to be perfect"
It was to be our first time together
Planned so carefully for it to be special
Take the jeep on the beach to watch sun setting Then love making
The black of night adorned only with the star's and moon's bright light
Pressed my finger to his mouth and said,
"Shhh, a girl couldn't ask for anything better than this"
I lean across to his side to steal a kiss
the sky replies, begins to cry
My eyes dance with deviance
Before he knew it, I was opening the door
Rushing to feel my feet in the shore
He follows quickly behind saying,
"What are you doing, this is crazy baby!"
Mist off the ocean lost in the rains torrential downpour
I couldn't do it, Wait anymore
Continue to fear everything
Just needed to do something
Anything opposite of my tendency to play it safe
I wanted to know the white of the waves in the warm rain
He asks again,
"What are you doing?"
Has his hand on my cheek the other on my neck fingers in my hair
I kiss him there, under the lightning and thunder trying to out do the other
and it was PERFECT, our first time together
She was of fragile state, the stage called contemplate
Not quite ready to die but a near miss
could slow life down a bit
So she downs it, the Xanax and waits for it
Wanting it, the sleep that's deep
Unconscious to block out the monsters shadows
The darkness we tend to keep
The tension release is what she seeks
Believes in peace beyond the swallow and digest
She just wanted her mind to rest
like all the rest
The others who do not suffer
rotation of a worrier's mind
One at war with thoughts
fought battles lost
Exhausted hope, will to cope
She's end of rope
Takes a shallow breath, tastes the earth
Dirt's packed upon her shoulders and chest
Weighing heavily on the extremities
Extreme pain as the intestines slither
Finding the only way out
Wasn't her mouth
Bowels cold and wet under
Still squirming, toes curling, she's hurling
Her heart comes up, lands in her hands
She watches as it retracts and expands
Plants it in the soil then stands
Light on feet she levitates
Bouncing off sides of this gaping hole
Soul ascending from hell's grasp
freed at last
Head's crowning the opening
Born to this confused room
To be indoors or out, all relative
to Einstein's eyes window watching
Is she his altered state, What only his mind could create
Reincarnated through a genius' mind
Wild child, an on looker in trees behind
offers Newton's apple, Another fragile born again?
Is she the same
Tries speaking but it's a strain
Her jaw tight, lips pursed
Eyes watering she utters,
"CURSED"
Seems rehearsed, sets the stage
A play, a scene in a land of fake believe
Two people parading, costumed over ugly
Attempt to camouflage the atrophy of empathy
Audience oblivious the acting's exemplary
Strangers engaging, expertly creating
Accessories to a story in the making
Floor rumbles, there's shaking
Something in the hole's forming
Filling it in
The She's are kneeling, closely observing
It's completely closing
The buried heart is growing
There's activity in the audience
Lot's of talking, seems they're ordering
Directing, lights are bright over a bed
Where around many of them stand
She is lying there unresponsive
The doctor turns to the clock on the wall
and makes the call -
"Ok guys, despite our best efforts, I got 11:08 am. Let's record that as the time of death.”
Sky glowed with lilac intentions
The water blushed, showing signs of submission
Their vivid collision in the horizon
quietly angry, yet breath taking
A display of persuasive conversation
Was this the danger's of nature's flirtation?
Had we seen the last of a tamer road to twilight?
Blue to grey backdrops beginnings too peaceful nights
Shy sun sneaking out of site
Purple's passion perhaps just passing
through days eyes
One time chance to come alive,
just before saying goodbye.
The water was on fire as I crossed
I had drawn the short straw
Blistered feet and clenched jaw
But determined not to fall
Not to falter through skin shredding
Bones and cartridge melting
I was in life's crock pot with lid locked
Slow cooker, hear the timers ticker?
Sauce is thickening
I'm becoming tender in the center
Beginning to find pleasure in the pain
As brain's boiling point maintains
Frames of my existence projected on eyelids insides
Like picture slides
Then each one out of sight
Out of mind, I'm out of my mind
Looking in, but lights are off
Difficult to examine in the pitch dark
I begin to gag, I'm under attack
My own tongue is fighting back
No freedom of speech
But there's no longer a need
I'm faced with defeat as they ladle me Into bowls and proceed to eat
